On view at the Mulberry Street Branch in the Great Room, is de-composition, a series of photographs by writer and photographer Harry Newman. The series de-composition continues an exploration of decay, breakdown and transformation in nature -- this time in the plant life furthest from the natural world, yet our closest contact with it: common domestic plants. Focusing on what's typically overlooked and discarded, the series seeks to reveal the hidden, deeper beauty in stages of decay.
Harry Newman's photographs have been presented in group and solo shows in New York and California, and were recently acquired for the permanent collection of the Dave Bown Projects. His most recent show, This is the first exhibition of his latest series, de-composition.
