Rhythm of Life in Color: A US-African Perspective

This exhibition by Robert Akotia contains paintings that showcase landscapes and different aspects of life in Africa and United States as seen through the eyes of an artist with an international perspective. Special attention is paid to New York - the center of the rhythm of modern life and cultures. These paintings, with their vivid brush strokes and layers, are a toast to the celebration of color that captures the modern active trends of life today. 

  
Robert Akotia has exhibited his work extensively in the United States, Ghana, London and Nigeria. He has taught painting at Pacific University and the Glen and Viola Cultural Center. Recently, he has exhibited his work at the Carwin Gallery and Sonrise Church in Hillsboro, Oregon as well as the Rene Gallery in Portland, Oregon.     
 
His work may be seen in the Reference Room, on the Lower Level of the St. George Library Center until the end of October. The opening reception will be on Saturday, September 10 at 2:00 pm.
