2/27: Patton Oswalt with Paul Holdengraber: I'll Be Gone in the Dark:  Comedian Patton Oswalt shares his late wife's unfinished true crime novel where she spent her last years tracking down the infamous Golden State Serial Killer.  7 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. 

3/6: Tom McGuane with Richard Powers: The Long and Short of It: National Book Award-nominated author Tom McGuane looks back on his life stories with author Richard Powers as they talk about McGuane's latest book, Cloudbursts.  7 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. 

Selected Events

2/20: The New Female Economies in China and the Muslim World: Saadia Zahidi's Fifty Million Rising and Roseann Lake's Leftover in China explore the cultural and economic forces that are driving the rising numbers of women in the workforces of the China and Muslim world. They will discuss their books with Financial Times' Rana Foroohar. 6:30 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

2/21: 16mm Film Nights: Early Shorts by Renowned Female Directors: Curated by the chief programmer at the Alamo Drafthouse, Cristina Cacioppo, the evening's films are a selection of early shorts by renowned female directors including Susan Seidelman, Martha Coolidge, and Julie Dash. 6:30 PM, Stephen A, Schwarzman Building.

2/21: Bernstein/Mahler "Titan" Training: Listen and learn Gustav Mahler's own hand-written corrections and follow the digitized, annotated conductor's scores used by conductor Leonard Bernstein in an exciting training session. 7 PM, Library for the Performing Arts. 

2/22: Feeding the Dragon: Acclaimed actress and writer of theater, film and television, Sharon Washington will preview her new play Feeding the Dragon, which explores her life growing up in the Library. 6 PM, Library for the Performing Arts. 

2/23: The Library After Hours: Young at Heart: A nostalgic night of going back to your childhood and reading classic children's stories. The evening will provide rare curated collections of the Library children's literature from the early 20th century, classic cartoon films, and creating your own children's books. 7 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building. 

2/24: Raj Bhimani in Recital: Acclaimed concert pianist Raj Bhimani performs a recital of colorful and virtuosic piano masterworks by Debussy, Brenet, and Liszt. 2:30 PM, Library for the Performing Arts. 

2/26: Freshwater: Akwaeke Emezi with Glory Edim: Author Akwaeke Emezi  will talk about her debut novel, Freshwater, with founder of Well-Read Black Girl, Glory Edim and discuss about how we can use stories as a tool to center marginalized realities. 6:30 PM, Mid-Manhattan Library at 42nd Street.

2/28: The Sustainable City: Steven Cohen: Steven Cohen, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, reveals how cities are embracing sustainability through infrastructure, transportation systems and more in his latest book, The Sustainable City. 6:30 PM, Mid- Manhattan Library at 42nd Street. 

3/5: 2018 Women's Jazz Festival: A Celebration of Alice Coltrane: The annual Women's Jazz Festival features some of the best and unsung female performers in jazz today. Celebrate the continued influence of women on the evolution of jazz. 7 PM, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. 

Business, Career and Finance

2/20: Wills and Advance Directives: Join us for an introduction to life-planning documents including wills, healthcare proxies, and powers for attorney. Learn why these documents are important and how they can help you plan for the future. 6 PM, Science, Industry and Business Library. 

2/21: Vocational Track or College: Become an Informed Parent: This panel explores what to think about when your special-needs child is deciding between vocational training, joining the workforce, or enrolling in college. 6 PM, Science, Industry and Business Library. 

2/22: Start and Grow Your Business with Advertising Redbooks: Learn and identify brands that'll help you create partnerships for your business in a demo on how to use Advertising Redbooks. 7:30 PM, Science, Industry and Business Library. 

3/5: NYPL Recruiting Event: Facilities and Maintenance Job Fair: The New York Public Library is hosting a recruitment event for facilities and maintenance professionals. To be considered for roles, please submit an application prior to the event and come prepared with copies of your resume!
