Art and books? Sounds like a perfect Sunday to us.

The Whitney Museum of American Art is partnering with The New York Public Library to offer free storytimes to families as part of the Museum's Second Sundays free admission initiative. Presented by NYPL librarians, enjoy songs, rhymes, and favorite read-aloud books for young kids and their grownups. Visitors will also have the opportunity to sign up for their own library card and unlock endless reading adventures.

The partnership between the Museum and the Library brings free Sunday storytimes back to the City, as NYPL—which operates branches in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island—announced in November it had to eliminate Sunday service due to budget cuts. Additionally, the city announced more proposed cuts earlier this year which could further reduce service, including forcing most libraries to be only open five days a week. The Library is advocating to have our full funding restored to bring back Sundays—and more story times!—and avoid future service cuts. If you'd like to tell City Hall that you support library funding, send a letter of support.

Three storytelling sessions—11 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM— will be held on the second Sunday of every month.
