ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I grew up on classic Western movies and immediately fell in love with the unique atmosphere of freedom and solitude. The allure of the expansive wilderness and rugged landscapes are what drew me to continue my architectural career in the United States.
My ongoing personal project, When in the West, has been my artistic life mission for almost 10 years. It is a body of work that is the physical embodiment of my long fascination with the American West, with illustrations, collages, and texts.
With every single line I draw, I put in the utmost dedication, heart, and precision. My goal is to share my European vision and interpretation of Wild West with other people and to bring back the forgotten enchantment of western movies.
In this scenario, all roads lead to TEXAS.
ARTIST’S BIO
Angelika Andrzejewska is an architect and interior designer born and raised in Warsaw, Poland. She completed her Bachelor's and Masters's degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Warsaw University of Technology. She also spent some years studying in Milan at Politecnico di Milano and then in Rome at Sapienza University. Her practice focuses on architecture and interior design, as well as her passion for illustration drawing. Andrzejewska worked as an interior designer in Poland at Robert Majkut Design and a concept design architect at DiM’84, an award-winning firm owned by Czeslaw Bielecki.
She is currently based in New York City, working as an interior designer in an architectural and design firm. She is also an AIA New York member as well as a member of SARP (The Association of Polish Architects). Her work was highlighted in Parsons New School of Design as an Impact Entrepreneurship Mentor. It has also been featured in many local Polish design websites, online shops and most recently were mentioned in a few American publications.
Her series When in the West, based on her love and fascination for American western media, is an ongoing personal project that has led her to become a freelance illustrator, designing posters, and drawing commissions in her spare time.
