Windows to Love: A Hudson Park Library Chapter is a Winter-long showcase of a city-wide "Spreading Love" street art project, which to date spanned many areas of New York City. The project's origins trace back to 2020, to the first wave of the devastating Coronavirus pandemic in NYC. To mitigate the emotional toll of the novel virus on the public, the Viral-Love symbol was man-made to inspire anyone who came into contact with it to feel loved and to be kind to one another. Initially, it was only meant to exist as a PSA poster. However, following destructive Nationwide social unrest by the Summer, the symbol mutated into a full-blown large stencil painting, first appearing on the boarded-up storefronts in SOHO. Several years in, and many variants later, the Viral-Love now pops up at the Hudson Park Library! As it's always the case with each variant, the symbol adapts to the surface of each new environment. Here, it is placed in the context of the historical origins of the Hudson Park Library, starting from its opening in 1906. Collaged with copies of archival photographs, maps, poems, and etchings related to the neighborhood and the library, this work offers the blend of the new and the old, along with the symbol of constant, perpetual love as the centerpiece. Come around the clock – during the day to see the collage, and at dusk to see the symbol's soft reds soothingly glowing with light, showing the way towards love for the wandering souls in the night.

WINDOWS TO LOVE POSTER

The artist concurrently has another exhibit on the boarded-up windows of the historic Bleecker Tower in NOHO, at 644 Broadway. It is a commissioned multi-window installation that's been cheering the neighborhood since the Spring of 2021. Come see it as well while it's up!
