Preliminary studies for the Broadway production of Death of a Salesman
Jo Mielziner was among the most celebrated and prolific set, costume, and lighting designers of the 20th century. He gave three-dimensional life to the original productions of such Broadway masterpieces as Carousel, The Crucible, The King and I, South Pacific, and A Streetcar Named Desire. Mielziner created these subdued preliminary studies for the original Broadway production of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman that premiered in 1949, winning multiple Tony awards and the Pulitzer Prize in Drama.
